This is a review of the PedalPro MK II Adjustable Magnetic Bicycle Turbo Trainer, while this is an introductory exercise stand it is the top model in PedalPro range (see a review of the mid range PedalPro turbo trainer here). This stand is suitable for the cyclist wanting to exercise in the comfort of their own home wanting to lose weight or get fit.

On with the review… I’ll first cover the features then I’ll go more in-depth telling you what they are for and how they will affect your workout experience. I’ll then move on to the good points and the bad, and then finish with my thoughts and conclusion for this turbo trainer.

Let’s start with the frame… It’s the same design used on all the other PedalPro stands and seen on most other entry-level turbo stands (because it works!). Made from heavy-duty steel it is strong, sturdy and will hold your bike firmly without any flexing or wobble, giving you the confidence to exercise without the fear of your bike falling out of the frame or toppling over. But the MK II has been jazzed up with a brilliant white gloss paint job, an improvement from the original grey paint colour.
The design of this stand enables for a large range of wheel sizes to be fitted, from 26” to 28” or a 700c wheel.
The mounting bolts are an improvement over most bike trainers stands with a large easy to use screw handle which locks into place holding your bike securely with no chance of the supporting bolt working loose even under the most extreme exercise routine.
When you have finished with the stand, the frame will fold flat(ish) making for easy storage or transport.
The Top of the Range Magnetic Resistor Unit
Now we get to the main feature of this trainer, the magnetic resistor. This is what sets this cycle exercise stand out from other cheaper models.
Like most magnetic resistors it is very quiet.
It has 7 adjustable resistor levels which you can adjust to suit your level of fitness, or you can use the different levels while you exercise to vary your workout, making it less boring. Some riders while listening to their music will make it easy for one track harder for the next or you can use the resistance levels to follow a workout exercise plan.
The resistor has a remote adjuster which can be fitted to your handlebar for ease of use. Many cheaper models make you get off your bike to change the resistance or on the very basic resistors there is no adjuster and you just have a fixed resistance!
Attached to the magnetic resistor is a large fly-wheel, this gives you a feeling of a more natural resistance as if you were riding on a road, and a much more enjoyable exercise experience. While not as large as the flywheels found on more professional bike trainer stands this is the largest I have seen compared to other introductory magnetic resistance stands.
Included with the PedalPro MK II are
- Front wheel raiser – Used to level your bike it make a more natural riding position and removes the weight and strain from your wrists.
- Quick release skewer for the rear wheel – NOTE not every bike needs this, normal bolts work perfectly fine. This skewer is provided for wheels that have a hollow axle, as the plastic ends are not strong enough to support your weight in the stand.
Not really a bad point but rather a niggle. This is PedalPros top of the range stand and I believe they have skimped on the mounting bolt adjuster, while the one fitted is a large and easy to use handle, a quick release would make this stand truly top of the range of all introductory magnetic bike trainer stands on the market.
My conclusion of the PedalPro MK II Adjustable Magnetic Bicycle Turbo Trainer.
I have no problem recommending the PedalPro MK II Adjustable Magnetic Bicycle Turbo Trainer to you, this is a well-made, fully specked turbo stand with only one niggling improvement that I can see as mentioned above which would make this the perfect introductory magnetic exercise stand. At the time of writing the price of all bike trainer stands are discounted (see my article on best time to buy a bike trainer stand) and the price of the PedalPro MK II Adjustable Magnetic Bicycle Turbo Trainer puts it squarely up against Amazons best seller the BDBikes Bike Magnetic Turbo Trainer (see my review here).
For me it comes down to price between the two, The BDBikes Bike Magnetic Turbo Trainer is the better, but only just! Chose the one that has the best price or the one you prefer the look of.
